Vocabulary for Unchained Labs software (Junior) and HTE platform development
The entries of this vocabulary is formatted as such:
- Term: (Synonym) Explanation with reference
Term: The term of the entry, which is also the preferred usage term
(Synonym): An alternative title which explains the same thing
Reference: Refers to another term inside this vocabulary
A
Analysis
a tag which specifies that the current parameter is involved with e.g. HPLC analysis
Array
Automation Studio 10 (AS10)
A software which runs an experiment created in Library Studio 10, which can be retrieved from the database using an assigned Design ID
B
Backsolvent
A tag, which specifies to use the backsolvent reservoir to dispense liquid. Must be used in combination with the SyringePump tag.
C
Chemical Manager file (ChemFile, chem_file)
A xml-file which specifies the properties of a chemical in an experiment created in Library Studio 10. A chemical manager file for a specific experiment can be retrieved using Automation Studio 10
D
Design ID
An ID assigned to an experiment created in Library Studio 10 after saving it to the database
DesignCreator (DC)
A subprogram used in Library Studio 10 for specifying the dispense actions and locations in an experiment, and will automatically create tags for maps
DesignID
Discrete
A map where each value has a unique value. A discrete dispense map could for example contain the values [100, 50, 0], where e.g. 100, 50 and 0 uL are dispensed.
E
ExtSingleTip
A tag which specifies to use the extandable single tip feature of the Junior dispensing head
F
G
H
H6Tip
a tag, which specifies to use the six-tipped heated dispensing head.
HTE
High Throughput Experiment
I
J
Junior
The robot, delivered by Unchained Labs, which performs the automated chemistry experiments
K
L
Library
A multiwell plate, similar to a microplate, which has a given number of columns and rows. The positions of each well can have an assigned position, either as an alphanumerical value ("A1", where A is the row position and 1 is the column position) or a numerical value ("1,1") to denote the well position. Well ranges can be defined similarly using the notation "A1:B12" or "1,1:2,12".
Library ID
An ID assigned to a library after saving a design to the database in Library Studio 10. This ID is normally referenced in the chemical manager file and in the prompts file.
Library Studio 10 (LS10)
A program which uses a GUI to design experiments. Will define libraries, their properties (e.g. number of wells, columns) and which maps are to be used, in combination with specific tags. Deck positions of libraries will not be defined using LS10, but this is addressed in AS10
LSAPI
The API provided by Unchained Labs used for programmatically controlling the Junior
M
Map
Part of a Library Studio 10 design which specifies what and where an operation is performed. Examples includes array, source and parameter maps, which combined with tags, will specify the steps performed in an experiment design
N
O
P
Parameter
Prompt file (PromptFile, prompt_file)
An XML-file which specifies properties of libraries in a Library Studio 10
Q
R
S
Source
Usually referred to a dispensing action (e.g. a map) to a library, e.g. using ExtSingleTip
SkipMap
a tag, which specifies that liquid has been added to a well before the experiment has started.
SyringePump
a tag, which specifies to use the syringe pump when dispensing liquid.
T
Tag (Tags, Taglist)
Settings in an experiment designed in Library Studio 10 which specifies for example which dispensing tools should be employed in a map. Valid tags for the Junior unit in Bergen is: "Analysis", "H6Tips", "Backsolvent", "SkipMap", "SyringePump" (incomplete?). Tags are not case specific.
U
Unchained Labs
The name of the company which delivers the LSAPI and the Junior robot with associated software (Library Studio 10, Automation Studio 10)
Uniform
A map where the same value is dispensed throughout the
